Scuderia Coloni quit Formula BMW Europe

1 Mins read

The 2010 Formula BMW Europe grid will be without the Scuderia Coloni team after they announced their decision to quit the series to focus on other commitments.

The 2009 FBMW season saw the team start with new sponsorship from PartyPokerRacing.com; this deal was for the GP2 part of the team but also covered FBMW. Romanian driver Doru Sechelariu, Italian Kevin Gilardoni and Spanish youngster Roman Pinerio joined the team for the season.

The 3 drivers all competed in the opening 5 events before losing their drives due to a dispute with another driver. This dispute meant that the team missed rounds 6 and 7 of the series and returned for the season finale, with 2 guest drivers, Austrian Kevin Friesacher and Indonesian driver Rio Haryanto. At the end of the season, the team finished off in 8th position, with 19 points.

The team will announce their 2010 plans in the next few weeks.

Everyone involved with the team thank everyone connected with BMW and the series organisers.
