Theodore re-signs with Hillspeed

1 Mins read

James Theodore has signed up with leading Formula Renault BARC outfit Hillspeed for the 2010 season, and is hoping for a title challenge when the season starts at Brands Hatch on the 17th and 18th April, continuing the relationship they've had since 2008.

18 year old Theodore, from Telford, finished sixth in the Championship in 2009, after securing the 2008 Formula Renault BARC Winter title with a 100% Podium record and 3 class wins.

Theodore is confident about the season ahead, and he knows where to improve for an even better season – Theodore said “I improved throughout last season, setting the fastest lap at Rockingham, but I need to be stronger in qualifying – that will be vital.”

Theodore then commented – “We have had some very good tests at Snetterton, Anglesey and Pembrey and we're all feeling very positive about our dry and wet weather pace. The all round package is very good so the aim now is to prepare well during March and to be in the best shape possible for the first round.”

Team boss Richard Ollerenshaw is delighted to have secured Theodore for the team's 2010 campaign, “We're all very happy that James will continue as a Hillspeed driver for the coming season as this was the original plan”, and when he first drove for the team in 2008, Ollerenshaw knew that James had potential.  “When he debuted with us late in 2008 we knew he had great potential and last year he proved he has the pace to be a consistent front-runner. I've no doubt at all James should be a podium finisher and title contender this season.”

Hillspeed are looking for drivers to partner James for the 2010 season, either experienced BARC runners or young drivers looking to graduate from other junior formulae. Ollerenshaw commented on this, “We plan to run possibly three cars in Formula Renault BARC this year. We are in discussions with a number of drivers but we're also welcoming enquiries from other drivers with experience of the category and also those stepping up from karting or other junior formulae.”
