Lotus have productive day despite changeable weather

1 Mins read

Lotus Racing hailed the third day of the Barcelona test ‘successful’, despite the grey conditions and light rain that appeared over the Spanish circuit.

Before the showers arrived Jarno Trulli managed to complete 60 laps in the Lotus Cosworth T127, and went on to finish 102 laps by the end of the day. The team completed a full race distance and were satisfied with timings and the quality of the day’s running.

Chief Technical Officer Mike Gascoyne was pleased with the lack of major reliability problems, and the fact the car had simulated a full race in a variety of conditions. “Another productive day with Jarno; over a hundred laps completed with no real mechanical issues and Jarno was able to complete the full race distance in the mix of wet and dry weather.

“We successfully completed our whole programme with the changeable conditions and have had two very useful days with Jarno in the car, with a very clear set up direction from him. Now we're looking forward to further refining the balance of the car with Heikki tomorrow.”

Kovalainen will be in the car for the team’s final day of pre-season testing.
