Toro Rosso battle the elements

1 Mins read

Sebastian Buemi was forced to run with full-wet tyres in what Toro Rosso described as “the worst, in terms of weather, of the nine days of pre-season testing held so far”.

Buemi completed 57 laps, which included a 25 lap race stint simulation, but track conditions meant that the planned performance testing was not possible. The team also did practice launches, and some race pit stops. With refuelling banned this year, the race between the pit stop teams to change a set of tyres may be crucial on race day.

Today marked the end of Buemi's participation in Jerez, and the driver is looking forward to a dry run in Barcelona. ““The bad weather meant we could not get through all of our planned

programme for today and we also lost a bit of time with a hydraulic problem … it's a bit disappointing, but now I'm looking forward to the Barcelona test and hopefully some dry running.”

Jaime Alguersuari will be at the wheel of the STR5 for the remaining two days in Jerez, when the weather is forecast to be drier.
