The Porsche Carrera Cup GB Scholarship pairing of Euan Hankey and Michael Meadows tested the latest 911 GT3 Cup Porsche at an exclusive test at Pembrey on June 23 ahead of joining the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup grid for the British Grand Prix support race.
The pair will be entered in the race by Porsche Cars GB, the chance to race at their home grand prix weekend an additional prize after the Schlarship prize of a £50,000 contribution to their budgets for this season Porsche Carrera Cup GB.
The Supercup already uses the latest spec car, which will be introduced to the British series for next year. Other national Porsche series already use the new car, 2007 Carrera Cup champion James Sutton travelled to Pembrey, passing on his experience of the car from races in Carrera Cup Italy
“It feels quite different,” said Meadows after his first run at Pembrey. “It is stiffer and the brakes and change of direction are very good. It is so nice in the high-speed corners and that will suit Silverstone very well. Driving the car for the first time today has really made me enthusiastic about the Supercup race.”
“Absolutely fantastic,” said Hankey in summary. “The car is phenomenal; it is so responsive, it’s faster and it sounds wonderful. The brakes are amazing and it really is fun to drive; it feels even more like a racing car that the current car. Everything from the throttle is more responsive and you can feel the greater downforce in the fast corner.”

The Mobil 1 Supercup race on the new look Silverstone will be part of the British Grand Prix support package on July 10-11.
