Turkington back with WSR for WTCC

1 Mins read

Colin Turkington will race in the WTCC for West Surrey Racing, the team he won the BTCC title with last season, starting in Algarve and including the following two rounds at Brands Hatch and Brno.

Turkington hasn’t turned a wheel in a touring car since his championship-clinching race at Brands Hatch last October, but will make his return to racing just over a month from now.

“I feel this is a natural progression for me after last year’s championship,” said Turkington.

“Obviously I know the WSR guys very well. They’re a top team and have been a big part of my success in recent years. I’m also indebted to Dick because he’s been working so hard over the past few months to make this a reality.”

This isn’t the first time Turkington has raced for WSR in WTCC – along with then team-mate Duncan Huisman he raced at the Brands Hatch and Macau, scoring a podium on his debut at the former track, along with another fourth place finish in the day’s second race, and also scored an 8th placce at Macau. However none of those results counted as points, as he was registered as a guest driver.
