Lotus announce partnership with paint company

1 Mins read

Lotus Racing have today announced a new partnership with DuPont Refinish. The paint firm has become Official Technical Supplier to the team with immediate effect, and will provide them technical support.

Apparently the paint used on Formula 1 cars plays a very important role in the car’s performance as it must be low weight, combined with optimum thickness, thermal stability, resistance to mechanical stresses such as stone chips and debris, all with colour brilliance to ensure the cars look their best for television audiences and spectators.

The T127 race cars and transport trucks have all been painted with DuPont Refinish paint systems.

Tony Fernandes has welcomed the company to Formula 1 as a Lotus partner. “I'm delighted that a company of the calibre of DuPont Refinish has joined us as an Official Technical Supplier,” said the team principal. “It is a very good example of how far Lotus Racing has already come in our short life that we are attracting such prestigious brands to work with us, and we are all excited about the commercial and brand benefits we will bring each other.”
