Ramon Pineiro To Make F2 Debut At Valencia

1 Mins read

Spaniard Ramon Pineiro will make his Formula Two debut on home soil at the final round of the season at Valencia.

18-year-old Pineiro has previous experience of the F2 car after competing in the winter test at Portimao and the test at Brands Hatch in July, where he finished eighth fastest. He has been competing in Formula Palmer Audi in 2010, and currently lies seventh in the overall standings. He previously competed in Formula BMW in 2008-09, with a best finish of eighth.

Pineiro will race with the number 16, and will be sponsored by Spanish bank Caja Madrid.

“I am very excited about this great opportunity that I have,” he said. “The F2 is a car that I love driving, and I feel very comfortable despite the car being much faster than what I am used to in Formula Palmer Audi. Participating only in the last race of the year, and against much more experienced pilots, is a major challenge but I am prepared for it. I just have to try and make the most of it.”
