Fletcher calm ahead of first 24 hour race

1 Mins read

Speedworks Motorsport's, Emily Fletcher exuded confidence ahead of her first 24 hour endurance race and admitted the prospect of night racing was “exciting, if a little scary.”

Despite a lack of night racing experience, last night Fletcher was pressing rivals and posted a succession of 2:29 lap times, which helped place the Speedworks Ginetta an impressive 21st on the grid. “Yesterday evening was actually the first time I've driven in the dark, and it was totally nerve wracking”, said the young Scot. “It's hard to concentrate when the lights are in your mirrors, but it was really exciting.”

However, Fletcher, who has this season driven in a number of championships including, GT Open and G50 Cup, has another reason to succeed this weekend. Her older brother, Henry is driving the Topcat Racing, Mosler GT2 and she can't contain the fact she'd love to outperform him this weekend, “It's fun having him in the garage next door, we keep checking how each other is doing.”

Alongside Fletcher this weekend is the vastly experienced Piers Johnson, Tony Hughes and the rapid Christina Holley.
