Both MacDowall Jr. and Sr. have an extensive and successful history with the West Midlands based team. Ray has raced for the team in Porsches, SEATs and Renaults while his sun an in the ELF Renault Clio Cup for team from 2007 to 2009 before making his BTCC debut this year.

The team, headed by Lee Brookes, has spent 2009 fielding G50s in the one-make G50 Cup that supports the BTCC, and this weekend's Britcar outing signals the beginning of the outfit looking further into sportscar and GT racing.

“You've got to consider every option and for us at TCR we feel the time is right to take a look at GT racing as another string to our bow. One-make championships have been our bread and butter since the team was established but we're keen to look at new challenges.”

“The opportunity to run one of our Ginetta G50 cars in this weekend's Britcar race presented itself and Ray and Alex were keen to team up and give it a go so we've decided to do it. Obviously it's a different style of racing for us but we'll be giving it 100 per cent effort and commitment as usual.”

Saturday's (13 November) 90-minute Britcar race on the 1.2mile track will start in daylight before ending in darkness at 6:25pm and will pit the MacDowalls and TCR against a field that includes TVRs, Ferraris, Moslers and another G50 fielded by Barwell Motorsport.
