Daytona’s Banking Kaiser’s Chief Concern

Ross Kaiser - Grand-Am Test at Homestead Miami Speedway, Homestead Florida

England's Ross Kaiser yesterday successfully completed a two-day test in a Ford/Dallara at the demanding Homestead-Miami Speedway, in the next step towards racing in January's Rolex 24 at Daytona. The test follows sessions in Zak Brown’s Crown Royal Crawford at Silverstone, and then Kevin Doran’s Ford/Dallara at Virginia International Raceway.

Homestead, notorious for its steep banking, proved a more than suitable warm-up for Daytona according to Kaiser, “The biggest thing was getting comfortable at a new circuit and getting to drive on the banking. We don’t have anything nearly as steep as this back home in the UK. When we get to Daytona it will even be steeper, but they tell me the banking at Daytona is easier than Homestead.”

Kaiser, the 2010 Radical UK Cup champion won the opportunity to race in America's premier endurance race after scooping the prestigious Sunoco Daytona Rolex 24 Challenge prize in October. And, Kaiser got his first look at the impressive Daytona circuit on Monday, “The guys at Daytona were kind enough to show me around, it was fantastic, and it blew my mind.”

He continued, “What a great place it is, and you can’t imagine how big it is, or how steep the banking is. I’m really looking forward to coming back and racing there. I’m really starting to feel at home in the Grand-Am paddock, coming here and seeing all the guys again.”
