Ginetta Junior race winner Jody Fannin is stepping up to the Ginetta GT Supercup for 2011 with Team Pyro. The multiple Clio Cup Championship winning team will prepare his Ginetta G50, with two time British Touring Car Champion Chris Hodgetts set to continue as his driver coach.
Fannin enjoyed a superb debut car racing season in 2010, picking up two wins on his way to finishing best rookie in fourth place in the Ginetta Junior standings. He will get his first taste behind the wheel of a G50 in the new year.
Commenting on his move, Fannin said “Being my first year in cars, 2010 was a massive learning year for me and to be given the chance to move up to the Ginetta GT Supercup as part of Team PYRO, with their impressive track record is such a fantastic opportunity. I'd really like to thank all those who have made it possible and can't wait to get into the car!”
Mark Hunt, team boss of Pyro, is excited to have Jody on board: “We have been looking for a link between our saloon car work and GT racing for a while now, and to be able to run Jody in the Ginetta is the perfect scenario.”
“Jody has shown that he has a lot of talent and understands that a lot of commitment is involved at this level of racing. He has a deep desire to win the same as we all do at Team Pyro, so I can’t wait to get our hands on the car and get out testing.”
Stewart Linn, Ginetta Championship Manager, feels Fannin could do well: “Jody had a fantastic debut season in the Ginetta Junior Championship. Scoring a win after only 5 races was hugely impressive for someone in their first season of car racing. Jody will have no problem adapting to the G50 and will certainly be one of the favourites for the 2011 Ginetta G50 Cup”
