Motorbase Performance team boss David Bartrum has expressed his delight in signing Tim Harvey and Michael Caine for his team's 2011 Porsche Carrera Cup GB campaign. Caine remains with the team that took him to the runners up spot in 2010, while reigning champion Harvey returns to the team he raced for in 2006.
In 2010, Harvey and Caine won 18 of the 20 races between them and are the two most successful drivers in the championships history. Bartrum has strong hopes the line-up can deliver the team both the Drivers' and Teams' championships.
Batrum said: “To have two drivers of the calibre and experience of Michael and Tim in the team is great for Motorbase, and it is good for the other drivers in the team. We're showing our commitment to winning in what is going to be the toughest season so far in the Carrera Cup GB. It's going to be a fantastic opportunity for us.”
Caine has finished runner up in the series on two occasions and Bartrum is pleased to have retained his services, saying: “Michael has been a star for the team for the last two seasons and has helped move the team forward immensely. He had a superb season in 2010 with fantastic pace and this is home for Michael. I have great respect for what he has done for the team.”
Bartrum also believes the signing of two time champion Harvey is a real achievement for the team: “We've worked closely with Tim over the years and have known him as a friend for a long time. His Carrera Cup record is outstanding.”
Bartrum admits having two title contenders in the same team could be risky though: “There will be no team orders and it will certainly be challenging. I'll need to employ my own unique style of management.”
