The progress of the brand new Ginetta G55 is back on track after a fire at the factory manufacturing the bodywork at the end of December.

Fans visiting the Autosport International Show in January would have seen the rolling chassis of the new Ginetta G55 but Production Manager Peter Merrilees has confirmed to TheCheckeredFlag.co.uk that everything is going well despite the fire.

“We had a small set back at Christmas when there was a fire at Production Glass Fibre and we lost around 8 weeks of CNC machining.” said Merrilees.

“However the team at Production Glass Fibre has been working around the clock to make time up and we are definitely back on schedule. Bodywork (moulds and panels) for the G55 will be going on to the rolling chassis next week and we’ll be testing the first prototype at the end of the month.”

You can keep up to date with the progress of the G55 on TCF and also via the official Ginetta twitter account at @GinettaCars.
