Silverstone Announces World Class 2011 Calendar

The Home of British Motor Racing, Silverstone, has confirmed its 2011 calendar, with the circuit offering the best two and four wheeled motor sport the world has to offer. The year will also see the opening of the circuit's new state of the art pit and paddock complex, the 'Silverstone Wing'.

The new complex will host its first international event when the FIA GT1 World Championship rolls into town at the Silverstone Supercar weekend between June 3rd and 5th. Moto GP is next to visit the circuit the next weekend, with Cal Crutchlow leading the British assault on the AirAsia British Grand Prix.

The biggest event in the UK motor racing calendar is next, with the Formula One Santander British Grand Prix between the 8th and 10th July, where drivers Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and Paul Di Resta get the chance to race in front of a massive home crowd.

One of the most prestigious classic motorsport events in Europe, the Silverstone Classic, is next up between the 22nd and 24th July, with Britain's round of the 2011 FIM Superbike World Championship following a week later.

The ever popular annual World Series by Renault meeting takes place over the weekend of 20/21 August, before the stars and cars from the Le Mans series heads to the UK over the 9th to 11th September for the 6 hours of Silverstone event.

Fans of two wheeled action gets their third dose of the season when the MCE British Superbike Championship heads to the track on the weekend of 23-25 September. The circuit then plays hosts to one of the UK's only 24 hour endurance races, with the Britcar 24hr over the weekend of 30th September and 2nd October.

The best Britain has to offer heads to the circuit in October, with the Cooper Tires British F3 International Series and Avon Tyres British GT Championship double header on 8th/9th followed by the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship the next weekend. The season's calendar finishes with the annual formula ford festival, the Walter Hayes Trophy between the 4th and 6th November.
