The all new 'Renault Clio Cup Channel Challenge' has been launched, giving drivers from the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup UK the chance to go up against their European counterparts at Silverstone on the World Series by Renault race bill.
With the event having no restrictions on drivers, all European teams and drivers are able to enter the one-off event as long as there cars meet the 2011 AirAsia Renault Clio Cup UK technical regulations. The meeting will be an official round of the Dutch Clio Cup and includes a prize fund of over £14,000 available to all non-Dutch entries.
Last year the World Series meeting at Silverstone took place in front of 125,000 spectators and its hoped the crowd will be the same size this year for the meeting which will be supported by AirAsia, who are offering two return flights from Stansted to Kuala Lumpur as a fan prize over the weekend.
General manager for SRO, the AirAsia Renault Clio Cup UK promoters, Lisa Crampton said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for AirAsia Renault Clio Cup UK competitors. As well as giving our Clio the opportunity to race at the iconic Silverstone circuit, there is a great prize fund available with £1500 for the overall winner and £900 for the second placed driver in each race.
“The Clios will join other prestigious Renault Sport championships from around Europe including the Formula Renault 3.5 Championship, Megane Trophy and Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup. We're certainly hoping to attract a large grid for this race. For fans too, it's a great opportunity as our title sponsor AirAsia is offering two return flights to Kuala Lumpur to one lucky competition winner over the weekend.”
