Shaun Hollamby Returns To Driving Seat For AmD Milltek

1 Mins read

Shaun Hollamby is to return to the driving seat of the AmD Milltek Racing.com Vw Golf for the British Touring Car Championship meeting at Croft on June 18-19.

Hollamby drove the car throughout its debut season in 2010 but the team confirmed Tom Onslow-Cole for the 2011 season a fortnight before the first race in early April, Hollamby stepping back into a team principal role. Onslow-Cole's decision to leave the team last weekend at Oulton Park prompted a quick decision with the trip to the North East following so soon.

Hollamby says the rest of the season will depend on results at Croft, with the championship's summer break following the meeting.

“We will see how I get on at Croft and then decide on the next course of action during the lengthy mid-season break,” said Hollamby. “With Croft being so close we decided holdfire with who will be driving the AmD Milltek VW Golf until we can properly evaluate all the driver options of which I am only one. I will test at Brands Hatch on Thursday this week and unless I have personally lost a second a lap since last year I will race the car at Croft.”

“My ideal driver would be a young up and coming driver who had a massive budget but he or she didn’t call! A number of names from the recent BTCC past are being considered but also some younger guys who maybe deserve the break.”

“I would like to say a big 'thank you' to all our sponsors but especially Phil Millington from Milltek and Christian Osborne from Tesco Momentum 99, without whose support the last few days would have been much harder.”

The team has performed well so far this season, Onslow-Cole scoring their first points at Donington Park with a car improved by the switch to the NGTC-spec turbocharged engine over the winter.
