Yamaha Postpone First Test Of 2012 Machine

1 Mins read

The factory Yamaha team announced today that it will not be testing next years machine at the next official test at Mugello, which is where the riders will next do battle in the Italian Grand Prix.

Jorge Lorenzo and Ben Spies will now have to wait until the Czech Grand Prix at Brno in August to get their hands on next years brand new 1000cc machine.

A press release from the team stated, “Yamaha Factory Racing has made the decision to re-schedule the planned Mugello 1000cc test for the 2012 bike.”

It continued “To allow for further time for the development of the bike the decision has been made to postpone the test to a later date.”

The move sees Yamaha seeming to slip behind in the development war, with main rivals Repsol Honda and Ducati already testing new parts. Ducati are already well advanced, having already used the 2012 spec chassis, with this years 800cc engine bolted on, in this weekends race in Assen.
