Great Oschersleben Performance For Atech Reid GP

1 Mins read

Atech Reid GP drivers Tio Ellinas and Oscar King put in a strong showing during Rounds Five and Six of the Formula Renault 2.0 Northern European Cup at Oschersleben. The duo headed to Germany to guest in the series in preparation for the resumption of the Formula Renault 2.0 UK series at Snetterton next weekend.

Qualifying saw Ellinas make an instant impact, the Cypriot racer putting himself on pole for the opening race with a time of 1min 26.198s, 0.087 clear of his closest challenger. King qualified on row five for the race, before improving in the second session to take sixth place, with Ellinas a row ahead of him in fourth.

The opening race, running in support of the World Touring Car Championship, saw Ellinas cruise to a stunning victory, two seconds ahead of his nearest rival, while King produced a great drive to move up four places to take a top six finish. The second race saw King start well, but fall back to finish tenth, while Ellinas held his qualifying position to finish fourth.

Ellinas said: “This weekend has been great in preparation for our own championship battles in the UK. We have had some great results although today we finished in fourth we have to be really happy with the win from race one yesterday. It is a solid result and now I am looking forward to next weekend.”

King commented: “We had some difficulty in race two today, but we had a good result yesterday and now we have to re-group and focus on the UK championship in Snetterton next weekend.”

Anthony Reid added: “We have to be really proud of our team this weekend. Both drivers drove exceptionally well with the limited track time they had. Oscar was very assertive and we can see a big improvement in his driving with the pace and race one result yesterday improving several positions.  Tio took a race win and a solid result in race two so it's great for the team going into round 6 in the UK championship next weekend.”
