Kawasaki WSBK Squad Confirm Brands Hatch Entry

1 Mins read

The Kawasaki Racing Team has announced that they will once again be entering their World Superbike line-up in the BSB round at Brands Hatch, set to take place on the 5th-7th August. Tom Sykes entered as a wildcard last year, winning two of the three races, and the Yorkshireman will out to repeat the feat along with Spanish teammate Joan Lascorz.

The Kawasaki factory squad is headed by former double BSB championship winning team owner Paul Bird who has supported the big Brands Hatch summer Superbike event each year since 2009.

Sykes last raced in the British Championship as a regular rider in 2008 for the Rizla Suzuki team and took three victories on his way to fourth in the championship. That season saw Sykes race against current BSB stalwarts Shane 'Shakey' Byrne, Michael Laverty and Michael Rutter as well as the likes of Leon Camier and Leon Haslam who have since joined him on the world stage.

Lascorz will be making his debut in the British Superbike Championship although the Spaniard has raced at Brands Hatch before during his 2008 World Supersport campaign. That race did feature some faces Lascorz will be familiar with including Josh Brookes and EVO class rider Graeme Gowland.

The Kawasaki WSBK challenge has shown signs of improvement in recent meetings with Sykes claiming a stunning pole position at Misano before finishing a season's best of fourth in the first race. Lascorz has had a consistent year with nine consecutive points finishes leaving him 13th in the standings, four points and one place ahead of his teammate.

Advance adult tickets for raceday at Brands cost from £25 online in advance with children aged 12 and under free. For more information and to book visit www.brandshatch.co.uk or call 0843 453 9000.
