The latest batch of single seater stars are set to commence battle once again when the 2011 Formula Renault 2.0 UK Championship returns to action with Rounds Eleven and Twelve of the series at Snetterton.
Seven wins in the opening ten races gives Fortec Motorsport's Alex Lynn a healthy 58 point lead at the top of the championship standings as they head to Norfolk. His closest pursuer is Cypriot Tio Ellinas, who is competing in his first season of Formula Renault action.
Reigning Graduate Cup champion Lynn said: “The new Snetterton 300 track is very technical and challenging layout but I am hoping to run well there.”
Double race winner this season Ellinas is looking forward to racing on the new layout, commenting: “I came third here in Formula Ford last year. I think that the new 300 track is good and I particularly like the infield section as it is quite technical. I would like to come away with some strong podium finishes this weekend.”
Hoping to snatch the race wins from Lynn and his Atech Reid GP team-mate Ellinas will be Jack Hawksworth, who took his maiden win at Croft last time out. Hawksworth, who is aiming to close the gap on Fortec's Ollie Rowland for third in the points, added: “I am very confident ahead of this weekend as we went well on the new layout previously in testing. I think that realistically we can go there this weekend and aim to be on the podium in both races, I would really like to push Lynn.”
The series' small grid will be boosted this weekend by the addition of Ed Jones, who joins the series after running in the Intersteps championship, while 2010 championship frontrunner Will Stevens and his fellow Formula Renault Eurocup racer Felix Serralles make guest appearances once again.
