Nick Tandy has announced he will join Motorbase Performance for the final four races of the 2011 Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Brands Hatch and Silverstone.
26 year old Tandy is a regular in the Porsche Mobil1 Supercup and the Carrera Cup Germany. The Pavenham-based driver was runner up in the 2010 Supercup and currently lies fifth in the series this year, while also leading the German series. Tandy heads into the final rounds at Hockenheim, which take place a week after the Silverstone GB rounds, with a twelve point lead.
Motorbase team boss David Bartrum explained: “With Michael Caine moving to the BTCC, we had a Carrera Cup seat vacant. What better way to fill it than with such a quality driver? He's absolutely current with the car. We want to show the strength of Motorbase over the last four Carrera Cup GB races.”
Tandy, who made his Porsche debut in the VIP car at Silverstone in 2008, added: “I'm looking forward to racing back where I started my Porsche career. It will be really good to race in my home country again. I've raced just about every weekend of the season, but only once in the UK so far.”
Tandy will test with Motorbase for the first time during the week at Brands Hatch, before joining official testing on Friday ahead of the weekend's pair of races on the Grand Prix circuit at the Kent venue.
