Ralf Schumacher posted the fastest time in second free practice for the DTM round at Brands Hatch, narrowly beating HWA Mercedes teammates Gary Paffett and Jamie Green.
Schumacher was just 0.009 seconds ahead of Paffett, with Green only 0.013s adrift of the former Grand Prix winner.
Mike Rockenfeller was the top Audi, and was himself only 0.002s away from Green's time around the short Indy layout. Filipe Albuquerque was the best of the older-spec cars in fifth, within a tenth of Schumacher's benchmark.
Martin Tomczyk was sixth, just ahead of the man he is trying to catch in the points, Bruno Spengler. The Canadian has been found guilty of using an unmarked tyre in practice and has been docked two positions on the grid. Christian Vietoris was eighth, with Friday's pacesetter Miguel Molina and Timo Scheider rounding out the top ten.
