Andrea Bertolini has taken pole position for the International Superstars Series title decider at Vallelunga. The Maserati Quattroporte driver currently lies third in the standings, 20 points (or one win) behind points leader Luigi Ferrara.

Bertolini was 0.475 seconds ahead of BMW Italia driver Alberto Cerqui. The rookie is 11 points behind Ferrara. He edged out Bertolini's teammate Alessandro Pier Guidi by just 0.023s.

Thomas Biagi, reigning champion and tied with Bertolini coming into the weekend, qualified fourth. Johnny Herbert was the best of the Mercedes in fifth, one second away from Bertolini. He just pipped Stefano Gabellini, with Gianni Morbidelli and Michela Cerruti filling the forth row of the grid.

Ferrara could only manage 12th on the grid, again suffering with engine problems just as he did in both races at the Mugello round.
