Nottinghamshire racer Matt Mason is getting ready for the biggest weekend of his career so far as he gets set to compete in the final rounds of the Protyre Formula Renault BARC Championship, which take place at Silverstone this weekend as support for the BTCC.
Mason heads to Silverstone in positive mood after his strongest showing of the season last time out at Thruxton. The Southwell-based racer took his maiden podium finish around the high-speed Hampshire circuit and is hoping to replicate that form in front of the ITV4 cameras.
Mason currently sits seventh in the championship points standings, but with the driver ahead of him no longer competing, a good weekend will see him finish his maiden car racing season in the top six of the competitive championship.
Mason said: “I’m very excited to be on the BTCC TOCA package, and especially televised live. It’s going to be very intense, scary in a way, and a massive event, but I'm looking forward to every bit of it. I think my speed and racecraft at Thruxton proves how well I've developed as a rookie and the other teams and drivers should have a good idea now of what's coming to them at Silverstone. Bring it on.”
