FIA Formula Two Championship organisers have unveiled the calendar for the fourth year of the relaunched series, which will take in five current Grand Prix venues including the new addition of the Hungaroring.
For the third consecutive year the season will begin with a standalone round at Silverstone, in April. The championship will then move onto Portimao in Portugal, making its return to the F2 schedule after last appearing in 2010.
The Nurburgring in Germany and Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium host the next two rounds at the end of May and June respectively. The series will then return to British soil and Brands Hatch before making its debut at Paul Ricard in France.
The Hungaroring near Budapest will host the penultimate round of the season, before the year concludes at Monza in Italy.
“After three very successful seasons of the FIA Formula Two Championship, our 2012 calendar is based around Grand Prix circuits, which our F1 focused drivers favour,” said series chief Jonathan Palmer.
“F2 will continue to provide drivers with substantial track time and learning opportunity at each of these exceptional venues. No other championship offers such an enticing combination of outstanding value, vehicle performance and the chance to race on so many F1 circuits.”
