Pirelli have announced the tyre compounds they will be providing for teams in Rounds 4-6 of the 2012 Formula 1 championship.

In Bahrain, which should take place in two weeks time barring more civil unrest, the PZero Medium (white) and Soft (yellow) compounds will be used – the same allocation as for China next weekend.

In Spain, the first race of the European season, the Hard (white) and Soft compounds have been chosen, whilst in Monaco the cars will be shod with the Soft and Supersoft (red) tyres.

As always, each driver will have six sets of the harder compound and five sets of the softer compound for each race weekend. Pirelli will, of course, also bring its Cinturato Green intermediate tyre for damp track conditions (four sets per driver), and the Cinturato Blue rain tyre (three sets per driver) to each race.

“Our nominations this year are designed to push the envelope of performance, as can be seen from our latest choices,” said Paul Hembery, Pirelli Motorsport Director. “Only the supersoft tyre is the same compound as last year: the other compounds are softer and therefore faster, designed to encourage closer racing as well as a wider variety of strategies.”
