Italian youngster Vittorio Ghirelli has become the latest single-seater racer to dip his toes into the FIA Formula Two Championship as he takes part in the series at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend.
The 18-year-old has been racing in Formula Renault 3.5 Series this season after two previous seasons in GP3, though he has failed to score any championship points in either series.
Ghirelli previously sampled F2 machinery at the Barcelona test at the end of 2011. He was fourth overall on the first day, when he topped the second session.
He joins an 18-car lineup for an official test day at Spa-Francorchamps today (Tuesday), with Iranian Kourosh Khani also returning after the ex-Formula Renault BARC racer missed the Nurburgring round due to visa issues.
