Iranian racing driver Kourosh Khani had a mixed weekend in the latest rounds of the FIA Formula Two Championship at Brands Hatch, a top-ten finish in the second race making up for a DNF in the opening race.
The former Formula Renault BARC race-winner's weekend started well, picking up tenth place in the first qualifying session. It took a turn for the worse in the first race though, when Khani got caught up in an accident while running eighth, causing significant damage to his car.
Outstanding work by the F2 mechanics saw Khani back in action the next day, with the 22 year old putting himself thirteenth on the grid for race two. Dropping down to fourteenth at the start of the race, Khani was unable to get past Axcil Jeffries ahead, but gained multiple places when rivals had problems ahead, ending up with his second top-ten finish of the season.
“It's been a very mixed weekend for me at Brands Hatch,” said Khani. “We started the weekend well but I was very unfortunate to get tangled up in the incident with Max Snegirev and Alex Fontana, I just had nowhere to go.”
“I'm pleased to have matched my best performance in the series so far after facing some real challenges this weekend, I just hope that we can take this positive finish and improve further at Paul Ricard next weekend as the times show that I have the pace.”
