Robertson Back On Top With Perfect Home Double

1 Mins read

Charlie Robertson has seized the advantage in the 2012 Ginetta Junior Championship after a perfect pair of lights to flag victories on home soil at Knockhill.

The 15 year old showed his potential by topping two of the three test sessions on Friday and replicated this pace in qualifying, taking pole position for both of the weekend’s races.

After fending off the challenge of Harry Woodhead at the start of the opening race, the Investigo and Ria Capital Markets-backed driver scorched into a comfortable lead, eventually crossing the line 3.3 seconds ahead for his first ever win on Scottish soil.

Race two saw the HHC Motorsport star make another great start and as chaos kicked-off behind, he pulled his lead out to 2.6 seconds by the start of lap four. Robertson did begin to be closed down quickly by Niall Murray, but a mistake for the Irishman gave Robertson the breathing room to secure his sixth win of the season.

“It’s been a fantastic weekend and the home crowd has definitely given me a boost”, said an elated Charlie, “Two wins is exactly what we needed and to take the championship lead at my home track is an amazing feeling.”
