After recording a second top six result of the season Scuderia Vittoria drivers John Dhillon and Aaron Scott will hoping to run at the front of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship again this weekend.
A grid of nearly 30 GT3 and GT4 cars is expected at Silverstone for the three hour race – the championship’s longest race of the season – and as the season approaches its climax Dhillon and Scott are still chasing improvement in their first year with the team.
The duo came into 2012 as class winners in the GT3B class but switched to Scuderia Vittoria and the Ferrari 458 GT3 car for the year.
“This season is still about learning the car,” admits Dhillon, “but if a break through weekend comes our way then that will be a brilliant result to take away with us.”
At the previous meeting the pairing the ended the second of the two one-hour races at Snetterton in sixth position, with Scott – the professional driver of the team – having as high as third earlier in race. However, with Dhillon improving with almost every outing, and fresh from a positive test at Donington Park they could be poised to improve on their best result of the season and make ground towards the podium.
The three hour race around the full Grand Prix will be a new challenge for the pair, with the longer distance of the race – and the packed grid – both presenting an array of unknowns. Still Scott looks at this weekend assured of the potential of he, his co-driver and the team.
“I’m feeling super confident ahead of the weekend,” explained Scott. “Scuderia Vittoria have provided us with an exceptional car, so I’m confident that we can deliver a strong result this weekend, it would certainly be nice as it feels like I am visiting a home circuit due to being a BRDC member.”
“The 3-hour race will be a huge team effort for us this weekend, and I really think that we can push on after testing at Donington last week prior to the race.”
