Davison’s Lap Record Lands Co-Driver John McIntyre Pole For Opening Qualifier

1 Mins read

Tradingpost FPR’s Will Davison has topped the 20 minute qualifying session in the lead-up to Sunday’s first endurance race of the season V8 Supercar Championship at Sandown.

Davison clocked a qualifying lap record time of 1m09.3670s to put co-driver John McIntyre onto pole for the first 20-lap Qualifying Race, which then determines the grid for the second and decisive qualifying race of the Dick Smith Sandown 500.

Davison edged out Holden Racing Team’s Garth Tander to take the top spot by just 0.0072 seconds with SP Tools Racing’s Shane van Gisbergen, TeamVodafone’s Craig Lowndes and The Bottle-O Racing Team’s David Reynolds rounding out the top five.

Series leader Jamie Whincup could only manage 10th fastest, struggling on the slippery conditions and making a mistake at the start of his final run.
