BSB Confirm Largely Unchanged 2013 Calendar

1 Mins read

The 2013 British Superbike Championship will be contested on the same nine circuits as this season after the new calendar was released on Wednesday. The series will once again by sponsored by MCE Insurance after Motorsport Vision announced a five-year extension to their title sponsorship deal.

Meetings at Brands Hatch will bookend the season with the Indy layout kicking off 2013 on April 7th and the Grand Prix loop hosting the title decider in late-October. The only slight alterations to this year’s schedule are in the order of the meetings. Thruxton and Oulton Park continue to host rounds two and three while Snetterton will come before the second Brands meeting in July, a change from 2012.

Oulton Park hosts the first triple header of the season in August before the annual summer bank holiday trip to Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire. The ‘regular season’ concludes at Donington Park before the Showdown which mirrors this year with Assen, Silverstone and Brands Hatch the venues.

The new calendar, added to the extension of the title sponsorship agreement, promises the continued strength of the championship in years to come and series director Stuart Higgs is delighted with the news.

“Extending the title sponsorship to nine consecutive years demonstrates the strength of our relationship with the team at MCE Insurance and the significant exposure and value it delivers to their organisation and customers. It is also another example of the confidence being shown in a championship that boasts stable technical rules for the teams, long term television broadcast contracts, a great mix of circuits and above all a brilliant, growing legion of fans who are experiencing some of the best racing seen anywhere in the world.”
