Robertson ‘Overwhelmed’ By Ginetta Success

1 Mins read

Charlie Robertson sealed the 2012 Ginetta Junior Championship in style during a tense final weekend at Brands Hatch.

The 15 year old secured his first car racing title with a hard fought fourth place in the opening race around the Grand Prix circuit, putting the title out of reach of his rivals with a race to spare.

Although he could have elected to sit-out the final round to assure he was champion, Robertson elected to race on in front of 30 VIP guests and didn’t disappoint, leading the race until a late safety car period put him under threat, with the Surrey-based racer slipping to second on the final lap.

“To end the year as champion is overwhelming, I couldn’t have asked for any more. To finish the year on the podium with the title won is a fantastic feeling and a big reward for the team as well who have worked so hard all season and given me a great car,” said Robertson.

“I’ve got to say a big thank you to my sponsors, Investigo and Ria Capital Markets, and my Mum, Dad and family – I couldn’t have done it without their support. I also want to thank the guys at HHC and also everyone at Ginetta, I’ve had two fantastic years in Juniors and learnt a huge amount.”
