The GP3 Series will return to action next week for the opening post-season test at Jerez, where Trident Racing will run debutants Emanuele Zonzini and Roman de Beer, the team have announced.

The pair, both 18, have been making their first steps in single-seaters in Italy in recent seasons. San Marino’s Zonzini has spent the past two years in Formula Abarth, finishing fifth this year with nine podiums including one victory.

South African racer de Beer competed in the same category in 2010, finishing ninth overall with three podiums. He contested the opening three rounds of 2011, scooping another podium, before withdrawing to save his budget. He stepped up to Italian F3 in 2012, but again only took part in three weekends.

Trident only ran two cars for the majority of the 2012 GP3 season, their first in the category. Formula Abarth graduates Vicky Piria and Antonio Spavone started the season, and although they were joined by a third car for Formula Renault 3.5 convert Giovanni Venturini at Silverstone, Spavone then left the team. They finished the season ninth and last in the teams’ championship with Venturini scoring their only points.
