Dan Wells will compete in a Formula Renault car for the first time in almost a year this weekend after announcing he will make his debut in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 in Barcelona.
Wells will reignite his partnership with Atech Reid GP for the meeting, the team who ran him in the Formula Renault UK Championship in 2011, with the Brit having finished tenth in the main championship, before becoming Vice Champion in the Finals Series.
Wells has been competing in Asia this year, establishing him as a real title contender in the Formula Pilota China championship, multiple race wins with the renowned KCMG team putting him in contention heading into the penultimate round of the year in three weeks time.
“It was a real surprise to get a call from Anthony Reid to jump in the car this weekend,” explained Wells. “I didn’t get the call until Sunday night and I have switched straight onto European time so that I can go into the weekend confident in my performance levels.
“I worked with Atech Reid GP last year, where we finished as Vice Champion in FRUK Finals Series, so I am really pleased that I am able to work with them again this weekend. I have to say a big thank you to Anthony for giving me this great opportunity.
“I haven’t driven the car in almost a year, and it will be a new track for me, but we go there with the aim of doing our best and we will see what happens!”
