Johnny Cecotto finished on top as GP2 Series action came to an end for 2012 with the second and final day of post-season testing at Jerez.
Switching to Arden International for Friday’s running have spent Thursday with Carlin, the Venezuelan driver topped both the morning and afternoon sessions on the final day. His 1m25.694s benchmark from the morning session would remain the fastest time for the rest of the day, going nine tenths slower in the afternoon.
Fellow South American Felipe Nasr was second fastest in the morning for Carlin, before skipping the afternoon session to fly home and pay a visit to the Brazilian Grand Prix. It was a good morning for Arden as their other driver Adrian Quaife-Hobbs took P3 ahead of Thursday’s pacesetter Marcus Ericsson who was now driving for Coloni.
Newcomer Kevin Giovesi continued to show well in fifth for Lazarus ahead of Stephane Richelmi with DAMS and Rio Haryanto at Lotus. Alexander Sims was eighth with Addax while Stefano Coletti (Rapax) and Alexander Rossi (Caterham) completed the top ten.
Richelmi took second place behind Cecotto in the afternoon, while Lazarus were again on the pace this time with Rene Binder in third. Coletti was fourth ahead of Jolyon Palmer (iSport) and the returning Fabio Leimer (Racing Engineering).
Julian Leal was seventh for Trident ahead of Nigel Melker (Racing Engineering), Giovesi and Sergio Canamasas (Trident).
Jerez will again play host when pre-season testing ahead of the 2013 campaign commences on 26-28 February, with a second test following a week later at Barcelona on 5-7 March.
