AirAsia Renault Clio Cup UK Champion Jack Goff will test Team-HARD.‘s next-generation touring car this week as the Dartford squad eyes a possible partnership next season.
Team boss Tony Gilham said the test, which will take place at Silverstone on Thursday, will give Goff the opportunity to sample a touring car for the first time and allow the team to evaluate him ahead of 2013.
Gilham said the team was aiming to provide the same chance for Goff, who was recently confirmed as part of the MSA’s Academy for 2013 and had previously stated his desire to get on the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship grid for next season, as they did for Howard Fuller and Aaron Williamson, who made their touring car débuts with the team this season.
“We’re looking to work with Jack, get him out in the car and give him a test,” Gilham confirmed to theCheckeredFlag.co.uk. “He’s a very exciting prospect – he’s Clio Cup champion – and we like to bring young drivers through. We’d like to give him his break in the touring car scene. We want to forge a relationship with him like we did with Howard and Aaron.
“We are very keen to get Jack on board as we continue to build for the future. We are a very ambitious team and for us this is a perfect relationship as there is so much we can offer Jack for his very promising future in the BTCC.”
Goff will drive one of the NGTC Vauxhall Insignias the team purchased at the end of the 2012 season.
He said: “We’ve been working with Tony for a while now. We’ve built up a relationship over the last couple of weeks and it’s gone from there.
“It’s a brilliant opportunity and my first ever go in a touring car, so it’s something I’ve been dreaming of for a long time. It’d be good to continue our relationship with Tony and hopefully we can work on something for next season.”
