The stars and cars of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) are the latest confirmed attraction for fans at Autosport International next month (January 10-13)
Several of the series’ top drivers will appear at the event at the Birmingham NEC, led by new champion Gordon Shedden, who claimed his first BTCC title on a wet final weekend at Brands Hatch in October.
The two men he beat on that final weekend will also be present over the course of the show. Shedden’s Honda Yuasa Racing teammate Matt Neal and long-term rival Jason Plato. Joining the trio will be Independents’ champion Andrew Jordan. All will all be available for fans to gain an autograph or an insight in to the UK’s most popular national racing series. With a month still to go until the event other BTCC drivers are likely to confirmed in the coming weeks.
“The 2012 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship was one of the most exciting and competitive in history, with nine different race winners, and a three-way title fight at the final round,” said BTCC series director Alan Gow. “We can’t think of a better way to kick off 2013 than giving fans the opportunity to experience this phenomenal display at Autosport International.”
Shedden’s title winning NGTC Honda Civic also leads the list of seven different cars from seven different teams that will be on display around the sprawling show floor.
Plato’s MG KX Momentum Racing MG6 will also be present as well as the 2012 racers from eBay Motors, Rob Austin Racing, Welch Motorsport, Speedworks Motorsport and Team HARD., Tony Gilham’s team showing their NGTC-spec Vauxhall Insignia.
As well as the BTCC stars touring cars will be represented by Rob Huff, the new World Touring Car champion and Andy Priaulx, three time champion of the same series, now representing BMW in the DTM series.
