Spirit of Daytona Racing have confirmed their four man driver line-up for next month’s 51st Rolex 24 at Daytona (January 26-27), Oliver Gavin completing the team.
Gavin will join Antonio Garcia, Richard Westbrook and Ricky Taylor is the teams Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype for the race.
“I’m excited to be back with the SDR team for the Rolex 24,” commented Gavin. “I’m also looking forward to spending time with Ricky Taylor on the same team.”
“Olly is part of the Spirit of Daytona family” said team owner Troy Flis of Gavin who drove for the team at both Daytona and at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen last season. “He has experience in the Corvette DP and with the team. I couldn’t be happier with our complete driver line-up and am really looking forward to carrying our momentum from 2012 into the 2013 season”
SDR won three times in the 2012 season, twice with Westbrook and then regular co-driver Garcia sharing driving duties. However, for the new season Ricky Taylor replaces the Spaniard as a regular driver, Westbrook retaining his place in the team.
“Oliver Gavin is a very experienced driver that I look forward to working with,” said Taylor. “The Rolex 24 hour event is such an important race for all of the teams that every advantage is important. Driving with Oliver, Antonio and Richard is an advantage.”
The new foursome will test together for the first time at the ‘Roar Before the 24’ test days at Daytona International Speedway on January 4-6.
