Current Ginetta G20 Challenge champion Matt Flowers will graduate to the Ginetta GT5 Challenge for 2013, racing a G40 with defending champions Academy Motorsport.

He will partner Will Burns at the team for the coming season, the team looking to defend their championship after sealing last year’s crown with Sean Huyton.

Flowers notched up 10 overall wins and finished on the podium in every race bar one in the 2012 G20 Challenge, and is optimistic that he can adapt quickly to the Ginetta G40 and fight for top honours.

“I’m delighted to join Academy Motorsport and to make the move up to the G40 class”, said Flowers. “Last season was fantastic for both myself and Academy and I am confident that together we can build on that and have a great year.”

Academy Team Manager Matt Nicoll-Jones said: “We are very happy to have Matt on board this year, having won the G20 championship and graduating into the G40 is a natural progression.”

“Matt’s progression into the G40 class is proof that the Ginetta motorsport ladder provides drivers with the opportunities they require. Matt is a great driver and we are confident we will see some great things from him this year”
