Kobayashi and Chandhok Set For FIA WEC Test With Front Runners AF Corse

1 Mins read

Formula 1 refugees Kamui Kobayashi and Karun Chandhok are set to take part in a test with the factory AF Corse Ferrari team in Spain this week.

AF Corse are believed to be looking to fill two seats in the second 458 Italia in the GTE Pro class of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The test will take place at the Motorland Aragon Circuit in Spain and will see the team put the two ex-F1 drivers through their paces alongside GP2 race winner Luca Filippi, former Superleague Formula race winner Davide Rigon, Italian F3 driver and Ferrari Driver Academy scheme participant Brandon Maisano.

Regular AF Corse drivers Gianmaria Bruni and Giancarlo Fisichella are also expected to be present for the three-day test which began today.

Kobayashi was left without a Formula 1 drive after it was announced Nico Hülkenberg and Esteban Gutiérrez would be filling the driving seats at Sauber.

In 2012 Karun Chandhok drove for the JRM team in the FIA WEC finishing 10th overall and picking up a 6th place finish at the 24 hours of Le Mans.
