Daniel Lloyd will drive for Team Parker Racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB for the second consecutive season in 2013.
The 20 year old from Huddersfield debuted in the series for the Leicestershire team last year after winning the much coveted scholarship from Porsche. Lloyd finished sixth in the final championship standings, with a victory in treacherously wet conditions at Thruxton the highlight.
Now after becoming the first driver to receive a second year of support from Porsche, Lloyd is hoping he can build on his solid opening year to challenge for the title in 2013.
He said: “I really am so happy to be racing with Team Parker again, it’s fantastic to be back for a second year in Porsche Carrera Cup GB but even better to have the continuity of working with all of the guys we had such an amazing first season with last year.
“Stuart [Parker] runs such a professional team, always challenging at the front, and they’ve won lots of championships. It’s going to be a massive challenge to win the title, Porsche GB is the hardest and most competitive championship I’ve ever raced in, but with a full season’s experience behind me I’m confident we can really hit the ground running when the racing starts.”
Team boss Stuart Parker said: “Dan had a tough but fantastic first year in the Carrera Cup. Now he knows the team, the car and the circuits and he will be going all out to win the championship. It’s great to have such a fast and dedicated driver to spearhead the team.”
The season begins at Brands Hatch on the weekend of the 30/31 March.
