Team O'BR's Saker leads at the start of the Birkett Relay at Silverstone

Newly-formed Team O’BR will be entering a Saker sports car into selected races of this year’s British Endurance Championship as an invitation entry. The team features former BTCC racer Eugene O’Brien and Fun Cup stalwarts Mark Burton and Graham Pattle.

Pattle and Burton made their break into motorsport with the VW 130hp Fun Cup series, taking their first win in 2010.

In 2011 they embarked on their next challenge, purchasing a Dutch Saker sportscar and taking part in the Saker Sportscar Challenge, taking their maiden win at the end of 2012. In 2012 the team also took victory in the Fun Cup at the Snetterton 12-hours race.

“We are moving up to the big time – the British Endurance Championship, and we have formed a new team,” said Burton. “Saker’s UK importer JPR Motorsport will be offering technical advice and assistance, as will the Saker factory in Holland. We will contest several BEC races this year, starting at Silverstone in May.   Exactly which other races we will enter is yet to be decided, but the aim is to build as much knowledge and experience as possible in preparation for full BEC assault in 2014.”

The Britcar season kicks off on April 11th. theCheckeredFlag.co.uk will bring you full weekend reports from every round of the 2013 season.
