Wittmann’s M3 Shows Timely Demeanour For 2013

1 Mins read

Time stops for no one, especially the DTM, as BMW Motorsport now have another Premium Partner on board for the 2013 season, with the Ice-Watch brand, founded in Belgium in 2007, making its debut in the series for the first time. The #21 Ice-Watch M3 DTM will be driven by Team MTEK‘s Marco Wittmann, which has a very striking livery.

Motorsport Director Marquardt explained the importance of time regarding the DTM, and that Munich was clearly excited in the forming of the partnership with the trend-setting and dynamic young brand: “That suits BMW Motorsport and Marco Wittmann very well. After all, Marco is our youngest driver. A look at the BMW Motorsport watch collection proves the licence partnership between BMW and Ice-Watch in the lifestyle segment is a winning project for both sides from the word go. I’m sure we will see these stunning models on many wrists in the DTM paddock in the 2013 season.”

Wittman, himself, was instantly smitten with the new livery of the car he will racing with this season, as well as the watches, where Ice-Watch will also create a dedicated collection of fashionable timepieces for BMW Motorsport itself, that will sport the classic colours of the famed Munich race outfit.

The brand also embodies colour and fashion with the range of watches they supply, with Ice-Watch also securing an impressive 38% market share of sales in the 50 to 100 Euros price catchment.  CEO Jean-Pierre Lutgen stated that the tie-in with BMW was a sound and credible partnership, due to its way of moving forwards: BMW embodies innovation, design, cutting-edge performance and robustness, as well as excellent after sales service and accessibility. It offers the brand the chance to further consolidate its position among the leading names in ‘fashion watches’, acquired thanks to a new vision of watches, affordable prices, a wide range of colours and models, and constant innovation.”

Well, “a stitch in time saves nine”, and that is clearly the case of what both BMW and Ice-Watch look to do in 2013, as the days count down towards the start of the second season of the DTM-Era, as the champions look to defend their titles…
