Tom Ingram has stormed into the lead of the 2013 Michelin Ginetta GT Supercup after a fantastic podium sweep in the second outing of the campaign at Donington Park.

At the scene of his maiden victory in a Ginetta G55 last season, Ingram came into the weekend with high hopes, following a victory in the final race of the opening weekend at Brands Hatch three weeks earlier.

The 19 year old qualified a strong second for the opening race, a position he converted into a great podium finish. The SKYCIG-backed driver following race-leader Carl Breeze closely throughout, something he went on to repeat in race two, making it two second place finishes for the weekend so far.

Starting fifth for the reverse grid final race, Ingram was in the thick of the action over the opening lap, getting boxed out wide on two occasions to drop to seventh. Fighting back superbly, the KX Akademy member went on to lap over half a second quicker than his rivals to storm his way through to another second place finish.

“Race three was tremendously satisfying and I was over-the-moon to end up second,” said Ingram. “I genuinely never thought I would claw my way back that far after the first few laps.”

The results make it five fastest laps and four podium finishes in the opening six races, giving him a fifteen point championship lead heading into the next meeting at Thruxton, the scene of his first car racing podium in 2009, first win in 2010 and a commanding G50 hat-trick in 2011.

“I absolutely love Thruxton!” he enthused. “We topped the times in testing a couple of weeks ago and I just can’t wait to get there now and build upon our momentum from Brands Hatch and Donington. It’s such a fun circuit – completely balls-out – and fortune definitely favours the brave.”
