Renault UK Clio Cup front-runner Mike Bushell will join the Scuderia Vittoria team for the next three rounds of the 2013 championship in the third KX Akademy-backed drive.
Bushell will run with KX backing at Oulton Park, Croft and Snetterton, joining SV alongside current KX beneficiaries Stefan Hodgetts and Ant Whorton-Eales.
Running with Westbourne Motorsport, Bushell has taken two podium finishes in the opening three rounds, putting him fifth overall in the championship standings.
“It’s come about a bit quickly,” Bushell told AUTOSPORT. “It’s quite a big surprise and I’ve had to pinch myself to believe it. It’s going to be different going in with another team but I’m bringing some experience with the car and hopefully we can bring ourselves to the front.
“I’ve got to thank Westbourne for a good start to the season. There’s no ill feelings towards them at all, but it’s an opportunity from KX that can’t be missed.”
Bushell has received this opportunity after both Luke Herbert and Jake Hill were unable to raise the remaining budget required to secure the drive.
