Adrian Newey Returns To Super Trofeo

1 Mins read

Renowned Formula 1 designer Adrian Newey will return to the cockpit of a Lamborghini Gallardo as the Super Trofeo rolls on to Silverstone.

Newey will be at the wheel of the #1 VIP car alongside Alberto Sabbatini, Editor-in-Chief of Italian Magazine, Autosprint, in a competitive field of Pro-Am drivers, such as Cedric Leimer, Adrian Zaugg and Andrea Amici, who were dominant in Monza and a strong line up of young amateur talent, including Andrea Solime, who challenged their senior rivals at the first night race of the season at Misano.

Newey, 54, is a keen and capable amateur racing driver, having competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and driving his own Red Bull Racing RB5, which he received as a gift from the team, at the 2010 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The Briton, who has won eight Formula One World Championships, will be hoping for better weather conditions than last year’s event, where the rain meant that Newey and Sabbatini could only manage 11th and 15th respectively.

Away from Silverstone, the fiftieth anniversary of Lamborghini continued as the Sant’Agata Bolognese headquarters of the marque played host to a parade of 350 Lamborghinis on a four day journey from Milan to Rome, culminating in a gala celebration when the convoy returned to Sant’Agata Bolognese.
