The 2013 Silverstone Classic will be the host of Lamborghini‘s 50th birthday celebration with what is believed to be the marque’s largest gathering in the UK and one of the largest anywhere in the world.
A parade on the Silverstone Grand Prix will take place at 6pm on Saturday July 27 to mark the anniversary with a 100-car cavalcade, supported by Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A. and led by the company’s latest creation, the Aventador LP700-4.
“As far as we know it will be the biggest gathering of Lamborghinis ever seen in the UK and probably anywhere in the world, aside from the 50th Anniversary Grand Tour that the factory staged in Italy earlier in the year,” explained membership secretary of the Lamborghini Club UK, Lynne Bull.
“It is certainly the first time the club has attempted to orchestrate something so monumentally exciting. There will be Miuras, Espadas, LM002s, Countachs, Murcielagos, Diablos, Uraccos… basically the whole history will be represented aside from a couple of the very early originals.”
Joining the heritage machinery on the circuit will be legendary Lamborghini test driver Valentino Balboni with various high profile visitors from other clubs worldwide making appearances.
The large parade is one of many to take place at the Home of British Motorsport throughout the Classic weekend. The featured celebration marque will be Aston Martin, with a display of 100 cars on the Saturday, with Porsche taking centre stage on Sunday with a 911-car parade to commemorate 50 years of the Porsche 911.
Tickets can only be bought in advance for the event (www.silverstoneclassic.com), with other attractions such as car displays, live music and an ‘access-all-areas’ policy, along with great on-track action providing entertainment for all ages and interests.
