Spirit of Daytona Racing will bring the Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype to the Goodwood Festival of Speed next month.
The team were one of the outfits to give the Corvette DP its debut at the start of the 2012 Rolex Series season and went on to score the first victory for the new car at the second event of the season at Barber Motorsports Park. The team, with drivers Richard Westbrook, Antonio Garcia and Michael Valiante scored two more wins in 2012 and continue to represent Corvette this season, their #90 entry sponsored by VisitFlorida.com.
The car to take on the Goodwood hill climb will carry their 2013 sponsor’s colours with a number of different men, including GoPro founder Nick Woodman and regular race driver Ricky Taylor expected to get a turn behind the wheel during the weekend.
“I’m very proud to have been invited to represent Chevrolet and GRAND-AM at Goodwood,” said team owner Troy Flis. “We’ve been to the event before, supporting the first time a Daytona Prototype went up the hill, and it really is something special. So to get to go over there with the same VisitFlorida.com car that we’ve won with is really exciting. Goodwood is the kind of event that is heaven for car guys, so we can’t wait for the weekend.”
